FEATURES
Our Discuss America (DA) web site contains the following structure and features for your enjoyment.

Recommended: It is recommended that visitors have javascript enabled in their browsers. Some of Discuss America's features utilize javascript to provide you with content, and provide a more aesthetically pleasing layout. Also, a recent browser release is recommended, as the older one's do not conform to modern web presentation standards. IE7 or later, FireFox 3 or later, and most of the later versions of other browsers should be fine.

Header. Clicking on the Title in the web page header (top of the page, also called a banner), anywhere on the web site, will take you back to the Main Page of that site, (Discuss America is a collection of author web sites.) In the Menu there are also items called "Home", and "DA Home". DA Home will take you back to the home page of Discuss America, with its 3 columns of entries. 'Home' will take you back to the home page of whatever writer's site you are in.

Links. Except for the page title and the comments section, all links, or hyperlinks on this web site are in blue. Wherever you see text in blue, you have a link to more on the subject, or materials. In the Comments section, several links are bold, underscored, and white, due to the color scheme of the background, where blue links would not be very readable. You can't miss them. All links change color when your cursor moves over them.

Columns.
The column headers, Lean Left, Middler, and Lean Right, represent the latest articles in those categories of writers. Each writer has their own web site. Clicking on the "Continue Reading..." link, the title of the article, or the author's name, will take you to that Author's web site at Discuss America. Writer's web sites are titled by the Author's last name and the word, "Take", (e.g. "Remer's Take".)  The title of the page you are on, will always keep you informed of where you are in the Discuss America web site.

The content of the columns on the DA main page contain the last 4 articles published by the writers of that column.

Images. The beautiful American landscape images at the bottom of the first article in each column, and elsewhere on the DA web site,  as well as images within articles by our writers, can be clicked on to open a window with the full-size image in view, unless they are already full size. The American landscape images are routinely changed, throughout the site, and are provided courtesy of Terra Galleria, and the amazing photographer, QT Luong.

Menu. The Menu on the right side of Discuss America's pages, provides you with access to all the pages of our web site. Think of it as your map of where to go to find what you are looking for. Under the About menu, there is a listing of all DA Writer's sites, under the caption, DA Writers.

Comments. Comments are welcome from all who are willing to comply with the site's rules. Visitors are encouraged to Register (once), and "Sign In" whenever leaving comments. Signing in (after registering) requires only a single click. A link for signing in sits above the Comment Entry box for every article. By registering and signing in, your comments are immediately published for others to respond to. Comments left by those not signed in, will be held for moderator review and approval. In addition, signing in saves time and keystrokes, since you don't have to complete the name and email boxes; they are filled in for you when you sign in.

The first time you click on the Sign In link, you will be asked to Register, providing us with some basic information about yourself, like your name and Email address. When you submit this information, an email will be sent to the address you indicated with a request to confirm your email address by clicking on the link in the email. Thereafter, your comments will be immediately accepted and published.

NEW!   Email Subscriptions.
[Articles] On each writers home page, there is a place under the Eagle image, to enter your email address. By doing so, you will receive an email everytime that Author publishes a new article, with a link directly to that article. Saves a lot of time to get to the article you want to read.

[Comments] At the end of each article, there is a link asking for your email address IF you wish to receive an email notifying you of new comments to that article. I love this feature, because, when I leave a comment for which I look forward to some replies, I can receive an email when new comments are posted, with a direct link. I don't have to keep checking back with the Article page to see if anyone has left any comments after I left my last one. Very Cool.

Contacting Us. We love to hear from our visitors and readers. On the Menu of each page, their is an item named Contact. This will take you to a page where you can select whom you wish to direct your email to: the manager, or an individual writer. Fill out the form with your message, and our system will deliver your message to the person you selected. Have suggestions for improving the web site, or, questions? Contact the manager with them.

More Features Coming. We have many other features coming, to include Facebook and other Social media links and commenting, a visitors Community Page where our visitors may write and publish their own articles about America, and possibly become a DA writer with a web site all their own like our other writers. And possibly music in the background.
