HISTORY
Discuss America was created by David R. Remer in December of 2010. Remer spent years as a writer and managing editor for WatchBlog.com, debating politics with other writers. Unfortunately, WatchBlog's software had not been upgraded by its owner in more than half a decade. When Remer stepped down as managing editor early in 2010, WatchBlog's lack of management resulted in the civility and quality of the public discourse eroding. In December of 2010, Remer, and several of the writers at WatchBlog, wanting to widen their writing horizons to broader topics than just politics, agreed it was time to move to a better forum for their writings.
Discuss America, therefore, was designed using the latest Movable Type software. Discuss America's focus is broad and covers all things American, historical, present tense, and futuristic. It was designed to capture visual, as well as, intellectual interest.
Discuss America is an all volunteer effort by its owner and writers. Discuss America enforces its rules for participation. These rules are designed to ensure civil discourse and an absence of clutter, spam, and off-topic junk in the site's content.
Discuss America encourages information sharing and lively debate amongst its writers and visitors. America is a beautiful and wonderful nation. Discuss America is dedicated to sharing some of that beauty and wonder in both its people and geography.
